On arrival, the student will be greeted at the airport by CBM’s student support officer or nominated staff under the meet and greet program, provided the student informs CBM about their estimated time of arrival (ETA) at least one week in advance and CBM has confirmed their letter or an email on this request.
After pickup from the airport, the student will be offered refreshments, and arrangements will be made for them to call their family to inform them of their safe arrival. Thereafter, the student will be transferred to either CBM accommodation or the student’s preferred place of stay. CBM recognizes that there is always a few days gap between the student’s arrival and course commencement. This is the most crucial time for a newly arrived student when they feel lonely, depressed, and homesick being away from family, friends, and familiar environment. A small meeting at the airport and arrangement for transport, living accommodation, and initial counseling play a vital role to make the student’s transition a hassle-free experience.
CBM will provide an age and culture-sensitive orientation program, in which students will be provided with exhaustive information by our staff during face-to-face sessions to make their stay hassle-free. Apart from information on the enrolled course, the rights and responsibilities of students and CBM, student support services, appeal and complaint procedures, critical incident policy, visa conditions, dos and don’ts, cross-culture, and living in Melbourne and Australia, etc., will be clearly defined.
